Ivana Scepanovic

Ivana Scepanovic (b. 1934) studied English and Italian language and literature; in Belgium and the Netherlands she also studied Dutch. For many years she worked as an editor at the publisher Narodna knijga in Belgrade. She has translated approximately 100 books (nonfiction as well as fiction) from English, Italian, Russian and Spanish into Serbian.

Since 1986 she also translates from Dutch, including works by Hugo Claus, Felix Timmermans, Stefan Hertmans, Cees Nooteboom, Geert Mak and Arthur Japin. In addition to being a freelance translator she was a deputy editor of the Dutch literature and culture yearbook ‘Erazmo’ (1992-1998).
